29.08.2024
Recently, Mercedes has revamped its V-Class model, introducing the Marco Polo campervan variant to its lineup. This redesign pushes the V-Class into the luxury market, setting it apart as a competitor to the latest Lexus LM as well as the classic luxury vehicles such as the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes' prestigious S-Class.
There are two trims available for the V-Class: Premium and Exclusive. The Premium model offers either seven- or eight-seat configurations, with the option of Long or Extra Long body styles that extend the wheelbase by 230mm. In terms of features, every V-Class includes twin 12.3-inch dashboard screens that come equipped with Mercedes' advanced MBUX infotainment system, complete with a touchpad controller, navigation, and the ‟Hey Mercedes‟ voice assistant. The cabin also boasts a redesigned dash with new climate control switches, as well as a heated steering wheel with touch-sensitive buttons, all adding to the modern and luxurious feel of the interior.
The Exclusive trim goes above and beyond by incorporating cutting-edge driving assistance technologies such as active cruise control, emergency stop assist, speed-limit assist, active steering assist, and an emergency corridor function for navigating through traffic. In addition, it boasts a panoramic roof, a unique grille with horizontal louvres, an enhanced sound system, and metallic paint, all culminating in a luxuriously upscale driving experience.
The V-Class has received updates on its exterior, including new headlights, a revised grille, and redesigned bumpers. These headlights feature Mercedes' Multibeam LEDs and adaptive high beams. The vehicle currently comes with a single engine option, a turbocharged four-cylinder diesel available in two variants. The V220d provides 161bhp and 380Nm of torque, while the V300d offers 236bhp and 500Nm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a nine-speed automatic gearbox. A hybrid petrol engine is expected to be introduced to the lineup in 2025.
The Marco Polo campervan is distinguished by its V300d powertrain and four-seat arrangement. Tailored for outdoor enthusiasts, it boasts a kitchenette equipped with a cooker, two gas hobs, fridge, sink, storage spaces, yacht-style flooring, and a rooftop tent for two. With electric sliding doors, a split-opening tailgate, and fresh and waste water tanks, this campervan is the ultimate travel companion, blending luxury with functionality.
