Aston Martin reveals all-new Vanquish with mighty 823bhp V12
09.09.2024
Aston Martin has raised the bar with the release of their latest flagship front-engined sports car, reviving a beloved nameplate in the process. The Aston Martin Vanquish features impressive performance figures, including the most powerful iteration of the 5.2-litre V12 engine yet, a redesigned body, enhanced chassis, and a luxurious interior. Positioned as the top model in Aston's range of front-engined cars, the Vanquish is inevitably compared to Ferrari's 12Cilindri, reigniting their longstanding rivalry. Priced at around £333,000 (€400,000) in the UK, this limited production model is limited to 1,000 units per year. The highlight of the new Vanquish is its potent 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, delivering an impressive 823 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. These figures slightly surpass the Ferrari in horsepower and significantly exceed it in torque output, available from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm.In addition to the engine upgrades, Aston Martin has enhanced the V12 powerplant by reinforcing the cylinder block, redesigning intake and exhaust ports, repositioning spark plugs, and installing new high-flow injectors. The engine's top end has been revamped with new camshafts and turbochargers to achieve higher speeds with less inertia. The Boost Mode increases turbo boost pressures for enhanced power delivery at part-throttle. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The Vanquish boasts impressive performance figures, with a 0-100 km/h time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 345 km/h.Despite the impressive numbers, the Aston Martin Vanquish has a distinct character compared to its Ferrari counterpart. The turbocharged engine doesn't rev as high as the Ferrari's naturally aspirated V12. Apart from engine enhancements, Aston made significant changes to the body and chassis of the car. The Vanquish has an 80mm longer wheelbase than the Ferrari and is 214kg heavier. To counteract the weight, carbon fiber materials are used for the bodywork, while the bonded aluminum structure is maintained. The suspension system features double-wishbone at the front, multi-link at the rear, and new Bilstein DTX dampers. The chassis has been stiffened for improved rigidity, with upgrades to bracing, plating, and suspension. As the top-tier model in Aston's lineup, the Vanquish comes standard with carbon ceramic brake discs, reducing unsprung weight by 27kg compared to steel brakes. Marek Reichmann's design direction for the DBS features a larger grille opening and simpler body lines, consistent with other Aston Martin models. The front end showcases a larger grille with smaller cooling ducts, while the rear end features a classic Kamm-style design with LED lamps. Inside, the Vanquish boasts a redesigned dashboard, center console, and upgraded infotainment system. The car's focus on grand touring is evident in its spacious boot and fitted luggage space behind the front seats. Unlike its more sporty counterparts, the Vanquish is positioned as a dual-purpose vehicle with a focus on GT capabilities. To order your brand new Aston Martin in Cyprus, check availability.
