Bentley unveils the new Flying Spur Speed: a 771bhp V8 Hybrid four-door supercar

Meet the all-new Bentley Flying Spur Speed, a stylish plug-in hybrid featuring a V8 powertrain that redefines the limits of performance. Despite its familiar appearance, this updated version comes equipped with an innovative 'Ultra Performance Hybrid' technology, in collaboration with the Continental GT Speed. This system pairs a twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering an impressive 771bhp and 1,000Nm of torque for an exhilarating driving experience.

With its enhanced power delivery and reduced turbo lag, this sedan with supercar-like features can go from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. The electric motor provides the boost needed for quick acceleration. However, the Flying Spur Speed is not just about speed. It also boasts a pure-electric range of up to 75 kilometers and low CO2 emissions, making it a compelling choice for environmentally-conscious executives seeking a blend of performance and sustainability in their company car.

The Flying Spur's hybrid system offers four modes - pure EV, electric boost, regenerative braking, and charge. With a maximum charging speed of 11kW, the engine can fully replenish the 25.9kWh battery in less than three hours using the charge mode with a fast home wallbox charger. Unfortunately, DC rapid charging is not available. Additionally, the new dual-valve dampers and dual-chamber air suspension in the Flying Spur enhance ride comfort in Comfort mode and provide a wider dynamic range between the Comfort, Bentley, and Sport drive modes. The Flying Spur Speed is also equipped with rear-wheel steering, an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, and a 48V active anti-roll system for improved maneuverability and stability.

The exterior of the new Flying Spur Speed is almost unchanged from the previous model, with only some adjustments to the front bumper, a revised grille pattern, and fresh 22-inch alloy wheel designs. Internally, the cabin design remains similar but now boasts all-new seat designs, updated graphics on the driver's display, and enhanced infotainment software and driver-assistance technology, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Bentley Flying Spur Speed is not yet available for purchase, and pricing has not been confirmed, but it is expected to start at around £220,000 in the U.K. (€265,000). Bentley has promised to introduce new features every year, such as green traffic-light prediction, to help with urban driving.
