New BMW M5 Unleashes 716bhp with M Performance Parts
01.08.2024
Gone are the days when the BMW M5 was a discreet super-saloon. With the introduction of a new range of M Performance Parts, the latest model is now even more eye-catching and bold. While the modifications to the exterior don't go as far as adding a big rear wing or canards like on the M2 and M3 M Performance models, there are still plenty of features that set it apart from the standard M5.
BMW stated that the new exterior parts enhance the car's dynamic design and improve its aerodynamic equilibrium. The front features a carbon fiber splitter, while at the rear, there is a larger diffuser and lip spoiler. The carbon fiber elements are also seen in the exhaust tip trims, sill extensions, and door-mirror caps.
Other enhancements consist of M Performance side decals in Frozen Black, a fiber composite aerial cover, and a carbon fiber fuel-filler cap. Exclusive M Performance alloy wheels will also be offered as an option for regular M5 customers beginning in the summer of 2025.
In addition to the updated exterior, the finishing touches include new floor mats, a custom key case, and an M-branded tire bag. Despite the changes to the appearance, BMW has kept the powertrain of the newest plug-in hybrid M5 unchanged. It retains the 4.4-liter V8 engine capable of generating 576bhp and 750Nm of torque, with the electric motor increasing the total output to an impressive 716bhp and 1,000Nm of torque.
The base model M5 begins at a price of €127,500. Although BMW has not released pricing details for the complete lineup of M Performance Parts, it is anticipated that a fully loaded version could surpass €140,000.
