New Range Rover EV caught testing at the Nürburgring

As the Range Rover approaches a significant milestone in its 54-year history with the upcoming release of its first all-electric model, testing continues to ensure this new electric variant meets the brand's high standards. The Range Rover Electric has been spotted undergoing testing in various extreme conditions, from the Arctic circle to the Nurburgring race track. Despite the shift to an electric powertrain, the overall design of the Range Rover Electric remains consistent with its traditional counterparts, with only a few noticeable changes such as the aero-optimised grille design and the addition of a new charging port flap.

The recent images of the Range Rover Electric at the Nurburgring showcase sporty features like Pirelli P Zero tires and 22-inch alloy wheels. While certain elements like the roll cage and bucket seats seen in the images may not be available in the production model, the Range Rover Electric is expected to offer similar off-road capabilities as its petrol and diesel counterparts. Land Rover has developed a traction control system specifically for the electric variant to enhance performance on icy or low-grip surfaces, showcasing the brand's commitment to innovation and versatility.

Executive Director for Product Engineering, Thomas Mueller, emphasizes that the Range Rover Electric will deliver luxury, refinement, and capability with its near-silent electric propulsion system, promising smooth and relaxed journeys for its drivers. With testing in extreme conditions ranging from sub-zero temperatures to desert heat, Jaguar Land Rover is ensuring that the Range Rover Electric is built to withstand a variety of challenges. The company's dedication to developing both the battery and Electric Drive Unit in-house highlights their commitment to creating high-quality electric vehicles, following the success of the Jaguar I-Pace as their first electric model.
