New Spy Shots Reveal 2025 Audi RS7 Avant with Aggressive Wide Arches
05.08.2024
Recent spy shots have uncovered Audi's upcoming RS 7 Avant being put through its paces during testing, revealing its distinctive wheel arches and large air intakes cleverly concealed under camouflage. Expected to debut in late 2025, the new RS 7 Avant will be the successor to the previous RS 6 model, entering a competitive market against rivals such as the BMW M5 Touring and Mercedes-AMG E53 Estate. While it has been confirmed that the RS 7 Avant will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the specific engine configuration remains a topic of speculation. Possibilities include a V6 plug-in hybrid setup similar to the RS 5 Avant, or potentially upgrading to a V8 engine to align with competitors like the BMW M5.Despite Audi not currently offering V8 plug-in hybrid models, the introduction of new V8 PHEV technology within the broader Volkswagen Group could open doors for the RS 7 Avant. With other models in the Group such as the Porsche Panamera, Bentley Continental GT, and Lamborghini Temerario already embracing this technology, Audi is poised to incorporate these advancements into their flagship estate model. If a V8 PHEV powertrain is chosen for the Audi RS 7 Avant, it is estimated to exceed 700bhp and may draw similarities to Porsche's Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, which boasts a peak output of 720bhp. Both vehicles are expected to share a 25.9kWh battery pack allowing for up to 60 miles of EV range. The Audi RS 7 Avant is anticipated to feature an electric motor nestled between a traditional eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a twin-turbo V8 engine, distributing power to all four wheels. Anticipated to be equipped with advanced chassis technology like Audi's Sport Quattro rear differential, rear-wheel steering, and Dynamic Ride Control system, the RS 7 Avant will epitomize Audi's aggressive stance on the road. The bold design of the Audi RS 7 Avant, combined with its cutting-edge chassis technology, will underscore Audi's commitment to excellence. The RS variant will feature a distinct body design supporting wider tracks compared to the standard Audi A7 Avant. At the front, the new RS 7 will showcase the iconic single-frame grille flanked by large intakes for optimal powertrain cooling. The vehicle's streamlined silhouette, with a sharply sloped rear screen and reduced window height, lends it a futuristic appearance reminiscent of a concept car. The rear end will sport an Audi-typical light bar with OLED lighting elements and small exhaust pipes, likely to be replaced with larger oval pipes for a classic RS look in the final production model. There are still numerous unknowns surrounding the upcoming Audi RS 7 Avant, set to be unveiled in the coming year. Before its debut, Audi plans to introduce new RS models such as the RS 5 Avant with a PHEV powertrain, the all-electric RS 6 E-Tron in Sportback and Avant variants, and the RS Q6 e-tron. Audi Sport is at the forefront of exciting developments, with a lineup of innovative models on the horizon.
