Skoda Superb Sleeper Edition: Porsche power in a practical estate
04.09.2024
Referred to as Q-cars or sleepers, the idea of a vehicle that outperforms expectations has long captivated enthusiasts. Skoda's latest limited edition release, the Superb Estate Sleeper Edition, exemplifies this concept effortlessly. Built upon the already potent 276bhp Superb Estate 2.0 TSI 4x4, this model has been enhanced by 70% through a partnership with RE Performance. The upgrades encompass a revamped turbocharger, improvements to the fuel system, intake, and intercooler.
The Sleeper Edition now boasts a remarkable increase in power, generating 470bhp and 661Nm of torque - on par with a Porsche 911 GTS. With the original model clocking 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, the upgraded Sleeper Edition is anticipated to further improve its acceleration, possibly breaking the four-second barrier. Despite its name, this Skoda undeniably lives up to its reputation as a discreet powerhouse in the realm of high-performance vehicles.
To accommodate the enhanced power output, RE Performance has enhanced the suspension and brakes of the Superb model. The enhancements include a 50mm reduction in ride height using top-of-the-line coilovers, as well as larger brake discs and improved calipers. Despite these upgrades, the car's exterior and interior mostly retain their standard design to preserve its sleeper look. The Superb variant is offered in Lauren & Klement trim, showcasing a stunning Royal Green exterior paint and luxurious Cognac tan leather interior. This model also includes advanced features such as matrix LED headlights and driver assistance systems.
Luckily, the upgrades to the Superb don't sacrifice its practicality, offering 660 litres of space with the rear seats upright and 1,950 litres when folded down. However, the Sleeper Edition is a limited release to commemorate the end of the third-generation model as a new Superb enters the market.
