Prepare to be captivated by the latest addition to the Volkswagen family—the all-new Transporter! Recently unleashed in its diesel-powered Shuttle and Kombi variants, this versatile vehicle has now sparked excitement with the launch of its pure-electric counterpart, the BEV Transporter. Whether you're a taxi service, a trades person in need of reliable transport, or a family with three or four children, Volkswagen has you covered. The diesel Transporter Shuttle starts at a competitive price of around €56,000 for the entry-level Life edition and can go as high as €64,000 for the stylish Style trim. Meanwhile, the cutting-edge fully electric Transporter Life kicks off at approximately €67,000, with the Style variant retailing from €74,000.

Equipped with a robust 65kWh battery, the electric Transporter tantalizes with an impressive range of 316 kilometers in Kombi form, and slightly less at 312 kilometers for the Shuttle version. This puts it in direct competition with the Ford E-Transit, which offers a slightly higher range. Powering the BEV Transporter is a rear-mounted electric motor delivering a spirited 136 hp, which translates to a swift 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 12.8 seconds. But it’s not just speed that impresses—this electric marvel comes with an ultra-fast charging capability, allowing you to recharge from 10 to 80% in a mere 39 minutes with a maximum charging speed of 125 kW. Plus, the Kombi version has a payload capacity of 896 kg, making it as practical as it is modern. Shoppers can choose between short or long-wheelbase bodystyles and select from configurations of eight or nine seats, ensuring versatility for every adventure.

The TDI editions of the Transporter are equally compelling, powered by a robust 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine available in two enticing power outputs: 148 hp and 167 hp, both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. For those who prefer a little more hands-on driving, a 109 hp diesel version comes equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. On the economy front, the short-wheelbase Transporter Shuttle with the 109 hp variant delivers an impressive fuel efficiency of approximately 6.2 l/100 km on the combined cycle, while the more powerful variants both return around 6.8 l/100 km.

When it comes to features, the BEV model is loaded with added enhancements. In addition to the already generous specs of the diesel-propelled Transporter Life, the electric variant upgrades your drive with all-season tyres, a heat pump for efficient climate control, and a tire-sealant kit instead of a traditional spare wheel. Enjoy the comfort of heated front seats, adjustable lumbar support, and a Mode 3 charging cable tucked away in a convenient storage bag. The Style variant further impresses with a sleek leatherette-wrapped multifunction heated steering wheel.

Standard features found in the Transporter Shuttle Life include stylish 16-inch alloy wheels, striking LED headlights, and comprehensive safety features such as front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera. For tech enthusiasts, the dual-screen setup boasts a 12-inch driver’s display fused with a fantastic 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by a whopping nine USB charging ports!

On the Shuttle Style edition, pampering reaches a new level with electric sliding doors, a heated windscreen, larger 17-inch wheels, and manual sun shades in the second row to keep everyone comfortable on sunny days. There’s a high-end set of LED headlights and a rich variety of luxury options, including a Harman Kardon sound system and a panoramic glass sunroof. Meanwhile, the Kombi van rolls in with a starting price of around €52,000 in the Commerce Plus form, boasting LED lights and heated front seats. The Commerce Pro trim, from about €54,000, adds additional features such as wireless mobile phone charging, air-conditioning, adaptive cruise control, and an intuitive parking assistance package.
