Refreshed Audi e-tron GT debuts with a powerful 912bhp RS model

05/08/2024

After an exhilarating debut in June, Audi has officially unveiled the pricing for its revamped e-tron GT ‘four-door coupe’ lineup. Kicking things off is the 'S' model, seamlessly blending style and performance, followed by the breathtaking RS and the pièce de résistance, the RS Performance. With a strikingly reimagined exterior, enhanced battery technology, and a surge in power, the e-tron GT is set to capture the hearts of enthusiasts when customer deliveries commence in late summer.

The e-tron GT is built on the acclaimed J1 platform, the same foundation that powers the Porsche Taycan, ensuring it shares exceptional chassis components and groundbreaking battery technology. While the Taycan offers dual battery options of 82kWh and 97kWh, Audi has streamlined its approach with a robust single 97kWh battery. This new power unit boasts an energy density that is 4kWh greater than its predecessor, coupled with lighter and more potent electric motors across the entire lineup. The RS Performance variant is a true powerhouse, unleashing a staggering 912bhp, propelling it from 0 to 100 kilometers in a breathtaking 2.5 seconds, with a formidable top speed of 250 km/h. Meanwhile, the RS model channels 844bhp, achieving the same sprint in an astonishing 2.8 seconds, while the entry-level S offers an impressive 669bhp with a 0-100 km time of 3.4 seconds. To take performance up a notch, RS variants feature a Boost function that provides an exhilarating 93bhp boost for exhilarating bursts of acceleration.

Audi has placed a premium on efficiency with the updated e-tron GT, enhancing its estimated range to an impressive 604 kilometers in the most efficient 'S' model, a significant leap from the previous e-tron GT quattro's 490 km range. The RS model provides an ample 585 kilometers of range, while the RS Performance variant reaches a respectable maximum of 583 km. Charging has been elevated as well, with cutting-edge hardware that now supports rapid 320kW DC fast charging—allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes, making range anxiety a thing of the past.

The new e-tron GT goes beyond performance with a standard adaptive air suspension system that has been entirely reengineered, paired with an optimized steering ratio, all designed to enhance the driving experience. This air suspension features a 'comfort entry' mode that raises the vehicle height for effortless entry and exit. The entry-level S model now offers an array of stylish standard features including snazzy 20-inch alloy wheels, sleek black exterior trim, eye-catching illuminated door sills, and an upgraded sound system to enrich the in-car experience. For those seeking ultimate luxury, the Vorsprung trim elevates the game further, incorporating 21-inch wheels, Audi's revolutionary 'laser light' technology, and sophisticated all-wheel steering.

The RS e-tron GT sets the bar higher with a potent powertrain, distinctive styling elements, and a specially crafted virtual cockpit display, alongside a rear-axle differential lock for enhanced performance. The 2024 model year introduces exciting features like dark birch wood interior inlays, adaptive cruise assist, and a revised adaptive suspension system to top off the driving experience.

For the ultimate in refinement, the RS Performance variant is equipped with advanced ceramic brakes and an array of carbon finish options. The crowning jewel, the RS Performance Carbon Vorsprung model, offers an opulent array of features including front seat ventilation, a soothing massage function, state-of-the-art night vision assist, and additional sound deadening to ensure a serene ride. All in all, the Audi e-tron GT lineup provides an enticing blend of performance and luxury, appealing to discerning drivers who desire the very best in electric vehicles.
