Ferrari Ends SF90 Hybrid: First Plug-In Model Discontinued

Ferrari's latest financial update has brought some significant news: production of the Ferrari SF90 supercar and the Ferrari 812 GTS flagship has been halted. Both models, which debuted in 2019, will soon be replaced by new offerings, with the Ferrari 12 Cilindri set to succeed the 812. Notably, the SF90 was Ferrari's inaugural plug-in hybrid, marking a pivotal moment that contributed to hybrid sales representing 51.3% of total sales in Q3 2023. However, the current trend has shifted back towards petrol vehicles, with sales now comprising 52% petrol and 48% hybrid.

Equipped with a robust four-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with electric motors, the SF90 delivered an impressive 987 bhp, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.5 seconds. While it may not have been a traditional flagship model for Ferrari, its performance was on par with that of its predecessor, the LaFerrari. Interestingly, Ferrari's 2024 financial results do not mention the SF90 Spider, suggesting that it will remain available for purchase. Meanwhile, the track-oriented SF90 XX Stradale has sold out, with final deliveries currently underway.

Looking ahead, Ferrari's upcoming hypercar is expected to launch in 2025, aiming to fill the void left by the SF90 while honoring the company's illustrious racing legacy. The new Ferrari 12 Cilindri, the successor to the 812, has been unveiled and will be available to customers in early 2025.
