Ferrari Ends SF90 Hybrid: First Plug-In Model Discontinued

03.08.2024

The latest financial update from Ferrari reveals that production of the Ferrari SF90 supercar and the Ferrari 812 GTS flagship has been stopped. These two models, released in 2019, will be succeeded by new ones, with the Ferrari 12 Cilindri taking over from the 812. The SF90 was Ferrari's first plug-in hybrid, a milestone that helped hybrid sales account for 51.3% of total sales in Q3 2023. However, the balance has now shifted back towards petrol cars, with 52% of sales being petrol and 48% hybrid. The SF90, with its powerful four-litre twin-turbo V8 and electric motors, produced 987 bhp and could reach 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Despite not being a traditional flagship model for Ferrari, its performance was comparable to its predecessor, the LaFerrari. There is no mention of the SF90 Spider in Ferrari's 2024 financial results, indicating that it will continue to be sold. The track-focused SF90 XX Stradale has sold out, with final deliveries still in progress. Ferrari's upcoming hypercar, expected in 2025, is anticipated to fill the gap left by the SF90 and pay homage to the company's racing heritage. The new Ferrari 12 Cilindri, the successor to the 812, has been revealed and will be available to customers in early 2025.
