Ford Transit Custom Nugget Campervan Introduces Rugged Active Trim and All-Wheel Drive

03.09.2024

Earlier this year, Ford unveiled the new Ford Transit Custom Nugget campervan, and has since expanded the lineup with a more rugged Active trim level, a longer wheelbase model, a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and an all-wheel drive option. Developed in collaboration with German campervan specialist Westfalia, the Nugget campervan was previously only offered in Titanium specification. The new Active trim level is designed for customers who enjoy outdoor activities, featuring a more robust, SUV-inspired design with black plastic cladding, a skid plate-style front bumper, and distinctive 17-inch alloy wheels. The interior includes durable, water-resistant seat fabric perfect for post-water sports or beach days. The Active trim also includes the Driver Assistance Pack with blind spot information, reverse brake assist, and adaptive cruise control. For those looking for more versatility, the all-wheel drive option can be paired with the standard EcoBlue diesel engine, providing a towing capacity of up to 2.3 tonnes. The longer wheelbase version of the Transit Custom Nugget offers a larger kitchen area with additional worktop space, extra storage, and a spacious built-in wardrobe. Off-grid enthusiasts can opt for a longer wheelbase layout with a built-in toilet. In addition, the Transit Custom Nugget now comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain similar to the Ford Kuga SUV, combining a 2.5-litre petrol engine, electric motor, and 11.8kWh battery for emissions-free driving in urban and camping settings. Would you choose the Ford Transit Custom Nugget over the Volkswagen California campervan?
