Cyprus continues to develop infrastructure for electric vehicles, launching 11 new fast charging stations in various regions of the island.
Approximately €918,000 has been allocated for the implementation of the project. The initiative is part of the government's strategy to promote electric mobility and create more convenient conditions for EV owners across the country.
Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis emphasized that expanding the charging station network plays a crucial role in Cyprus's transition to more environmentally friendly transport. According to him, the availability of charging infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important factor amid the growing number of electric vehicles on the country's roads.
The new charging stations are located at several key points, including the area of the Central Hospital of Nicosia, the Central Hospital of Limassol, the Trimiklini area, and the bus station at Tombs of the Kings in Paphos.
The Ministry of Transport noted that the new devices support fast charging and offer several payment options. Users can take advantage of both a special mobile application and payment by bank card directly at the station.
The project is coordinated by the Department of Electromechanical Services, which is responsible for developing the public charging infrastructure network across the island.
Authorities also reported that work on expanding the network is ongoing. New projects are already being implemented, which will increase the number of charging stations in Cyprus as demand for electric transport grows and the country moves towards its emission reduction goals.
