New Lexus RZ 600e F Sport Performance delivers 420bhp festive punch

Lexus has just escalated the electric-SUV drama with a new range-topping RZ: the 600e F Sport Performance. It’s not just a styling exercise — this is an aggressive performance statement: a full aerodynamic bodykit, upgraded hardware under the skin, bigger brakes, and the latest steer-by-wire system paired with a yoke-style wheel that promises a sharper, more immersive drive. The 600e builds on the 550e F Sport but turns the dial up.

In Japan it’s priced from about €74,200, while the RZ family in the UK starts at around €63,200. For enthusiasts seeking an out-and-out flagship, the 600e is the one to watch: conspicuous, purposeful and engineered to behave like a proper sports SUV. Visually it’s theatrical in all the right ways. The carbon-fibre aero package is extensive and function-first: a new splitter, extended wheelarches, a bespoke bonnet, a roof spoiler plus a bootlid spoiler, a rear diffuser and air-directing vanes that channel flow away from the wheels. Lexus says the kit not only reduces drag where it matters but generates downforce to help plant the car at speed. Complementing those elements are bespoke 21-inch aluminium wheels wrapped around a beefed-up braking system. Up front the discs are larger and gripped by six-piston calipers finished in blue, a hue buyers can also carry onto the wing mirrors, front bumper accents and window trim.

Two contrast schemes — black with white or black with grey — emphasize the special-series feel, while a 20 mm lower ride height tightens the stance and, according to Lexus, contributes to “stable and confidence-inspiring performance.” Power is up too. The 600e produces 426 hp (an increase over the 550e’s 407 hp equivalent), yet the headline sprint remains unchanged: 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The dual-motor layout is retained, which keeps traction and control predictable while delivering immediate electric torque when you ask for it. WLTP consumption and official range figures haven’t been released, but the model uses the same 77 kWh battery as the 550e, so a similar real-world reach to roughly 449 km is a realistic expectation. Inside is where technology and theatre meet. The yoke-style steering wheel is linked to the latest iteration of Lexus’s steer-by-wire system, designed to refine driver feedback and responsiveness without the mechanical compromises of earlier setups. Lexus describes the upgrade as delivering “an even more engaging and satisfying driving experience across every scenario,” and the cabin detailing — sports seats, performance-oriented trim and tailored colour touches — underlines the car’s focused intent. Production for this variant isn’t being artificially constrained; unlike a previous F Sport Performance edition that was limited in number, the 600e appears intended for broader availability, albeit as a premium halo model. That should make it easier for buyers who want an attention-grabbing EV with genuine dynamic upgrades — not just cosmetic flourishes. In short, the 600e F Sport Performance is Lexus pushing its electric SUV flagship toward a more assertive performance identity.

With extensive aerodynamic work, stronger brakes, a notable bump in power and the latest steer-by-wire tech, it’s a compelling proposition for buyers who want an electric RZ that looks the part and behaves like one — all while keeping the practical advantages of an EV and a battery capacity that promises solid real-world range.
