Rolls-Royce has unveiled its first car from the so-called Coachbuild Collection — a model named Project Nightingale. Inspired by the experimental high-speed models of the EX series from the 1920s, Project Nightingale is a large two-seater electric convertible designed for the "most devoted and demanding" clients of the brand. A total of 100 units will be produced, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2028.
The name Nightingale is linked to the designer's stay at the winter home of the brand's founder, Henry Royce, on the French Riviera. The car stands out with its impressive proportions and fully electric powertrain, although exact technical specifications have not yet been disclosed — testing will only be completed next year.
According to Rolls-Royce CEO Chris Brownridge, Project Nightingale is a response to the requests of the brand's most exclusive clients who wish to see the most ambitious product. The company describes it as "the most extravagant expression of Rolls-Royce's capabilities to date."
From the front, the car follows the classic canons of the brand: a vertical nose and a long hood. The Pantheon grille is almost a meter wide and consists of 24 vertical slats. The narrow, fully bespoke headlights combine turn signals and daytime running lights, but their complexity currently prevents mass production.
Below is a carbon front bumper with chrome accents, and the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine traditionally rises above the grille. The red Rolls-Royce logo indicates the status of a production concept — customer cars will receive the classic emblem.
Domingues Ohea notes: "From the very beginning, we understood — this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We had the freedom to create a truly special car.
This car is about the wind in your hair, about the feeling of the surrounding world. It’s not just transportation — the experience itself becomes the goal. We wanted to create something modern, yet bold and pure in form."
In profile, the philosophy of "from vertical to flow" is particularly noticeable. The rear is shaped like a torpedo and is inspired by the 16EX and 17EX prototypes from the 1920s. The car is equipped with 24-inch wheels — the largest in the brand's history, with each rim featuring a unique design: wider rear rims and an asymmetric turbine-style pattern.
The fabric roof, currently presented as a removable structure, will fold behind the seats into the rear of the body at the push of a button in the final version. A side-opening trunk designed for two sets of golf clubs is also in development.
Rolls-Royce will offer extensive personalization options: nine body colors, seven roof trim options, two wheel designs, and 11 exclusive leather options not available in other models of the brand. Assembly will take place on the same production line as standard brand vehicles.
The length of Project Nightingale is 5.76 meters — comparable to the Rolls-Royce Phantom. However, with two doors that open against the direction of travel and the absence of a rear row, the focus is entirely on creating the most luxurious and immersive space for the driver and passenger. The low windshield and high glass line create a "cocoon" feeling.
The dashboard is designed in a restrained style: a digital instrument cluster is combined with a central screen, while classic "organ" vents and rolled metal controls maintain the brand's signature aesthetic. Only premium materials are used in the interior, and a specially designed luggage set is neatly placed behind the seats.
Technical details are still limited, but the model is expected to feature more advanced technologies than the current Spectre. The range is estimated at around 480 km, and the fast charging power is from 200 kW and above.
The price has not been officially announced, but the 100 production cars will occupy a niche between standard Rolls-Royce models — such as the Spectre and Phantom — and ultra-exclusive projects like the Boat Tail and Sweptail. This indicates a starting cost of at least €1.15 million, with the potential for significant increases due to personalization.
Production is strictly limited, and buyers have already been determined — all are existing clients of the brand. Owners will be involved in the development process: prototypes are already being created, testing will begin this year, final specifications will be approved by mid-2027, and deliveries of all 100 cars are scheduled for 2028.
