2025 Porsche 911 Turbo unintentionally revealed on configurator

The air is electrifying with anticipation as the redesigned Porsche 911 lineup continues to make waves with astonishing frequency! We have already marveled at the grand introduction of the Carrera, GTS, T, and the pulse-pounding GT3. But brace yourselves, because the iconic Turbo is about to grace us with its presence, and we've managed to catch an enticing sneak peek of it on Porsche’s configurator. The 992.2-generation 911 models flaunt a chic new look, complete with dazzling LED headlights and sleek taillights—reminiscent of what we've seen from the rear of the Turbo. This tantalizing preview emerged from a video that showcased the enhanced cruise control of the updated 911, but trust us when we say there’s a treasure trove of exciting enhancements beyond just eye-catching aesthetics.

Prepare for a bold new exhaust tip arrangement on the Turbo, paired with a freshly designed rear bumper that has already been spotted testing on the roads. Like its updated siblings, this power-packed beauty will be equipped with a fully digital instrument display that's not only cutting-edge but also user-friendly. The redesigned front bumper not only adds sheer style but also integrates active aerodynamic features that significantly enhance the car's performance capabilities. Adding another layer of excitement is a revamped version of Porsche's active chassis control system, known as PDCC, poised to elevate the driving experience across select models.

But wait, here's the real showstopper: the 992.2 Turbo will welcome hybrid assistance into its powertrain for the very first time! This groundbreaking announcement was made by Porsche’s deputy chairman, Lutz Meschke, during a recent investors' call. Production for the new 911 Turbo is set to kick off in the latter part of 2025 and it will feature state-of-the-art battery technology from Varta. This is the same innovative company responsible for the lithium-ion battery used in the recently introduced ‘T-Hybrid’ powertrain of the 911 Carrera GTS, which debuted in May.

While Meschke has chosen to keep most specifics about the hybrid tech close to the vest, industry insiders speculate that the iconic 911 Turbo will likely adopt a configuration similar to that of the Carrera GTS. This earlier model made waves with its transition from a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine to a powerful new 3.6-liter flat-six featuring a single turbocharger. Nestled expertly between the compressor and turbine of the turbo is an electric motor that offers instant boost as soon as your foot hits the accelerator. To sweeten the deal, another electric motor is elegantly integrated into the eight-speed PDK transmission housing. Both motors are powered by a 1.9 kWh lithium-ion battery situated at the front, creating a performance powerhouse that perfectly embodies Porsche’s legacy.

When it comes to output, the GTS T-Hybrid is a beast, boasting a combined output of 533 hp and an impressive 610 Nm of torque—showcasing a surge of 60 hp and 40 Nm compared to its non-hybrid version. Incredibly, this heart-racing hybrid system only adds 50 kg to the vehicle’s overall weight, enhancing performance while ensuring agility is never compromised. Meanwhile, the outgoing 911 Turbo struts its stuff with a formidable twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine that generates a robust 572 hp. The Turbo S takes that excitement even further with a staggering 641 hp. With hybrid assistance coming into play, we anticipate that these already phenomenal numbers will soar even higher, propelling performance to adrenaline-pumping new levels.

Also on the horizon is the new 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera S, making its debut earlier in 2025. Interestingly, this model will forego electrification, but we expect its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine to be enhanced with larger turbochargers and upgraded intercoolers, likely improving upon its existing output of 444 hp and 530 Nm of torque. Are you ready to accelerate your automotive knowledge? Stay tuned for exhilarating updates and news that are simply too thrilling to miss!
