Tesla cars in Cyprus

An electric car makes sense on Cyprus for three reasons: the island is small enough that range anxiety never really arrives, the charging network keeps growing, and a fully electric car pays no road tax at all — nothing a year. A Model 3 covers Limassol to Nicosia and back without a thought; we set the detail out in Tesla in Cyprus. But a used Tesla is not assessed like an ordinary car. Here it is not the mileage or the year that decides, but the state of the battery and which features actually travel with the car.

Which versions are worth importing

The Model 3 is both the most common choice and the calmest way in: compact, cheap to run and easy to park in old Limassol. The Model Y adds boot space and a higher seating position and suits a family. The Model S and Model X go to buyers who want reserves of power and space. Within each model the battery version and drivetrain matter more than the model year: the gap in real-world range between variants is wider than the gap between adjacent years. That is why we ask about your routes first and pick the version second.

Buying a used Tesla: what matters

We import cars up to five years old, and even at that age the battery is the car on any used Tesla. We request the battery health figure before purchase, check which hardware revision is fitted, and confirm which software features transfer with the vehicle and which are tied to the seller's account. Some do not transfer, and finding out after the car lands is expensive. The full list of what we check is set out in our fifteen-point checklist. We look separately at body repair history: on an electric car structural repair affects battery safety more than most buyers assume, and those cars do not reach the shortlist.

Common mistakes when buying one

The first is reading the quoted range instead of the real one: after a few years the actual figure differs noticeably, and it shows in the data rather than the advert. The second is assuming every autopilot feature passes to the new owner. The third is ignoring hardware revision — cars of the same year can carry different generations of computer and cameras. The fourth is skipping a check of the charge port and cable, the most common small fault on these cars.

Where we source from and why

For Tesla we source in the UK: right-hand drive, a large used electric fleet and readable ownership history. We rarely look at Japan for an electric car, and the reason is technical: the fast-charging standard there is CHAdeMO, while Cyprus and the rest of Europe use CCS2. We wrote the comparison up separately — Japanese or European Tesla. A British car arrives with the familiar connector and no surprises about compatibility with the local charging network.

Price and what ownership costs

Cars in stock in Cyprus carry a price in the listing. A commission gives you one final landed price, confirmed in the agreement before anything is paid. Then the main advantage begins: fully electric cars are exempt from road tax — nothing a year, against fifteen hundred for a large petrol SUV. That is not a discount or a one-year incentive but the standing rule. Add electricity instead of fuel and noticeably less servicing, since brakes wear more slowly with regeneration. What a petrol equivalent would pay is visible in the road tax calculator.

How a commission works

You describe the brief, we come back with candidates and a report on each — with battery data, not only photographs. Then inspection, purchase, shipping, duty and VAT, then registration.

If the vehicle you want is not among those listed, open a commission request. Depending on the model we will source it from the UK, Japan or Australia.
